Ross Robertson Memorial Care Centre Ladies Auxiliary member Rhonda Loxton enjoys the bench donated in honour of her late husband. Anaged care centre’s auxiliary group has given back to one of its members as a thank you for all her work.Rhonda Loxton is a member of the Ross Robertson Memorial Care Centre Ladies Auxiliary. She donated a garden bench to the centre after her husband, Mervyn Loxton, died in December 1999. Alas, the chair had become dilapidated and needed replacing.
Auxiliary president Pam MacDonald said when the group decided to fund-raise for two benches to be placed in the centre, they would replace the one dedicated to Mervyn.
“Because of what she has done over many years, we thought it would be a nice thank you to her,” Pam said.
She said Rhonda had been a past treasurer and sold many raffle tickets for the group’s various causes over the years.
“She’s a real lady,” Pam said.
Rhonda said she had been a group member for about 16 years and lives in Victor Harbor.
Her daughter Marjory Rowley, of Victor Harbor, said her mother enjoyed gardening, sewing, and helping other groups.
“She does everything for everyone,” Marjory said.
Mervyn’s bench will be placed in the centre’s Collette Wing garden, and the second bench will be placed inside the café. The chairs cost $300 each.
