Police said an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl went for a bushwalk from Govetts Leap in Blackheath about 1pm on Sunday.

Concerned relatives contacted police at about 8pm when they had not returned home.

Officers from the Blue Mountains Police Rescue and Ambulance Special Casualty Access Team (SCAT) arrived a short time later and began searching for the teens.

They were found near Bridal Veil Falls at 11pm.

The girl had injured her knee and the young man had fallen and hit his head.

SCAT members remained with them overnight before they were airlifted out early on Monday morning.
