Hitting the skids in last weekend’s semi final. Action from last weekend’s semi final.

First Semi Final August 30, 2014

Fab warm day on Saturday for spectators at the first semi final played at Angaston.

The club was well represented with fivenetball teams playing and the Under 17 football side.

Over at the courts, the day started out with our Sub Junior 2playing against Tanunda and coming away with the win. Well done to these little Tiger Gals.

Playing next was our Sub Junior 1 against South Gawler which despite a fab effort by all girls, did not end up winning their game. Well done though on making it to finals and giving it your best effort.

Senior 7were next coming up against Willaston with the game result going Willaston’s way.

Great effort by all and well done on earning the finals berth. To end the day we had both Senior 3 and Senior 1playing.

In the Senior 1 game against South Gawler it was a physical match with the Tiger gals putting in great efforts, awesome patches of play, but not quite finishing it off ending with the game going South’s way and the end to our gals season.

These girls are great to watch, such determination and never giving up – proud of their efforts.

In the Senior 3 game which started off strongly and the Tiger gals in the lead, turned into a see-saw game with the score line changing to a margin of 1 to 2 goals going both ways for most of the last half.

Some positional changes in the last quarter saw the Tiger gals gain the winning momentum, played out the full four quarters of the game and came home the winners – another Tiger gal team into the Prelim final – well done.

On the oval our under 17came up against the old foe South Gawler and what a game it turned out to be. 17 points up at threequarter time after a powerful third quarter the boys looked the goods when they kicked the first goal in the last quarter.

The South Gawler lads had other ideas and found another gear and finished over the top of the Tigers to pip us at the post by 1 point in a thriller.

We had good players all over the ground and Lachlan Hill was judged our best with Beau Mason, Matt Stewart, Nathan Cockburn, Paul Searle and Dylan Pilkington all strong contributors on the day.

This coming Saturday we have the second semi-final being played at Freeling where the club will be represented by six netball teams and the three football sides.

In the morning at the courts starting at 10am our undefeated Junior 1 team and also Inter 2, followed by our undefeated Junior 1 side and in the afternoon our undefeated Senior 4 side and Senior 6 and then in the final time slot at 2.45pm will be the Senior 5s.

It’s also going to be a big day over at the oval when our As andReserves take on the Willaston Donnybrooks while our under 15s do battle with the Barossa Bulldogs in the first match of the day starting at 9.30am.

Lots to watch in what should be a great day of sport – all Club supporters needed to cheer our teams on.

Kingsford Hotel Club Person of the Week is awarded to Kim Warland for her efforts as a Club Netball umpire and as congratulations in recently successfully receiving her C grade badge in Umpiring. Well done – top effort Kim.
