GOLF enthusiasts are encouraged to attend a Golf Day Challenge at Cabramatta Golf Club on October 24 to raise funds for the Survivors and Mates Support Network (SAMSN).
SAMSN is a non-profit organisation, which works to increase public awareness about the influences that childhood sexual abuse can have on men in their adult lives.
The Golf Day Challenge, organised by Canley Heights RSL & Sporting Club, along with SAMSN, is hoping to see local registered clubs or organisations register a team of four golfers for the event.
Club chief executive Mark Baxter said every dollar raised would go towards the costs of several SAMSN programs.
These include workshops for male survivors, their families and supporters, online resources for them, as well as education and community outreach programs.
“It will be a great day at a superb golf course,” he said.
“For all golf enthusiasts this is a rare day not to be missed as we have Foxtel’s Golf Show presenter and former USPGA Tour player Paul Gow conducting a golf clinic prior to hit off.
“He will be playing a shot for your group on a designated hole, as well as giving a formal presentation after lunch about life on the US PGA Tour.”
Participants will also have the opportunity to win a car on the day if they get a hole in one.
It costs $150 for individual participation, $600 for a group of four players and $1500 for sponsorship.
