A COLEAMBALLY charity helping ease the pain for cancer sufferers will hold a morning tea next week.

Coleambally Can Asist was established about 25 years ago to help people who have been diagnosed with the disease.

President of Coleambally Can Assist Sue Hardy said the group had about 20 members who raised money for cancer sufferers.

She said the group was currently helping three locals cover the costs.

“We help with the cost of travel, medication and accommodation,” Mrs Hardy said.

She said Coleambally residents with cancer had the added stress of travelling to Griffith, Wagga or even Sydney for treatment.

Mrs Hardy said this was costly and stressful.

The group hosts regular fund-raisers and is planning a cocktail evening.

Members of the public to attend a morning tea at Coleambally Community Club next Thursday from 10am.

The guest speaker will be Major Karen Smith from Griffith Salvation Army.

The cost is $10.

Mrs Hardy said the group was always looking for more volunteers.
